# 3.4D — Interpersonal Connection >[!info] >Emerging initially with the [[4th Chakra]] in our early [[Mammal|Mammalian]] ancestor, the [[Self]] in this state of consciousness is aware of the physical body with its [[3.1D · Sensation|sensations]] and [[3.2D · Preference|preferences]], the individual ego with its [[3.3D · Willpower|will]], but now also the relationships between this composite self with the other beings in perceivable in awareness. > >Repeated access to this state can start to begin one's transition from [[Drive 3 - Status]] into [[Level 4]], the Belonging / Connection / Relational drive, as the Self is experienced as a multi-person entity which starts to erode [[Level 3 - Esteem|individual esteem drives]] which may be at cross-purposes with the collective's needs. While the same sensory data as before is coming into awareness, it is now being processed very differently. In the lower 3 states, the information is being processed only with regard to its relevance to the individual's goals, preferences, and sensory input. Now, the information is used to be receptive to and feel the state experienced by other beings in awareness, like other people, birds, insects, trees, even the sky, etc. When the [[Self]] is experiencing this state it is more identified with the relationships between things than the things themselves. There is a melding of Self and Other into a larger being, in a way that can often even arrest individual expression (being speechless, awestruck, etc). Emotions and feelings are shared through these relationship lines and experienced as ones own. This state can often be easily accessed outside in Nature, especially when survival is not in question like on a hike, or when sitting somewhere looking out over a view. Awareness seems to almost fuse the individual, bodily self with the surroundings, without perceptible divisions. This often leads to a feeling of great peace as one's own internal egoic troubles are seen as much smaller in the context of a larger whole, one which, especially when in Nature, seems to be supremely harmonious and beautiful. It is often reported, especially by the mother, that seeing one's child for the first time during the birth process can spontaneously induce this state, where the Self is identified with a composite entity of parent and child, the parent just being a part of a multi-person whole. It is also commonly experienced in large crowds — especially when one's body is in movement-limiting contact with others — like at concerts. In these cases, the individual Self (3.3+3.2+3.1) is subsumed into a collective experience that they are not in control of, and if submitted into, can meld with the collective consciousness of the crowd, often guided by a performer who's energy (often their type expression) is projected onto people. This is why people who normally have a hard time accessing certain types, say [[The Animal]], almost spontaneously let it loose at crazy concerts, as their identity is literally melding with another larger-than life person who has unfettered access to it — The Rockstar in this case. Another way this state is commonly accessed — often spontaneously — is in loving, emotionally connected sexual intercourse, when the self-sense dissolves into the unified being with the partner.
