# The Meta-Crisis >[!info] >The Metacrisis is the idea that there is an underlying crisis that is driving many, or most other other existential crises, in the world today. > >It is the Hydra, of which the myriad crises we face today — environmental, political, social, psychological, etc — are merely heads. It is the fundamental problem this is causing most other important downstream problems. > There is much to say on this, but frankly, in this regard, others have done a better job elucidating it than I have. My focus, after coming to this conclusion a few years ago, has been to pursue solutions to it, instead of re-state it better than has already been done. My work on the system is my answer to it, and has been where my personal focus has been. In later years, I came across the work of Daniel Schmactenberger, who I think has been able to understand it and articulate the ideas much better than I could.
