# Define Goals in the Positive (Replacement Behavior) Feb 8 2024 I have found it more effective to define goals in terms of what TO DO, instead of what NOT TO DO. They say this is the way to raise a child as well, instead of scolding them for what they have done incorrectly, teach them the preferred / proper / correct or "replacement" behavior instead. When the mind is told NOT TO DO something all it can think about is that thing. That denied thing gains more power, because attention is on it. To cut this, you direct the attention to the thing that's better to focus on, and that starts to take up awareness and become more probable. It is easier to do what is in awareness than think of something else to do. So instead of "don't go on social media," I can stay cultivate presence. From that presence I will be able to pilot where better to go. Awareness is the #1 most important thing because it is upstream of everything else. At least [[3.3D · Willpower|3.3D]] is needed to pilot effectively around the world. If we don't have control of our awareness we have nothing.
