# Voices within Awareness
>[!info]
> Contrary to popular belief in our time period, which stems from an outdated and incorrect model of human nature, we do not have just one completely consistent personality that behaves logically and coherently at all times.
>
> Instead, we are more accurately a messy council of many voices, each with its own view of what's important, right, and appropriate. The 4 Elements in many ways is just a catalog of these voices — the voices of the various Intelligences, Archetypes, the mind's various levels captured in States and Stages — all of which compete for control of our one mouth, two hands, two legs, etc.
>
> Of course, as explained in the System, each of us identifies more strongly with a certain set of the total voices — as influenced by our cultural upbringing, genetics, and karma — often greatly preferring the wisdom of certain Intelligences, Archetypes, Worldviews and Internal States over others.
>
> It is this preference (or mix of voices) that constitutes our personality structure. By definition, a different preference structure would imply a different lineage of events leading to the present moment, which would mean different timeline, different karma, different soul, different body, different you!

# The Level Voices
This is the voice of your level of development. It has an optimization circle it cares about — say, your sensory experience, your status within your culture, etc — and passes judgement on what is going on accordingly. This is more of a flavor or lens that all the other voices are interpreted through more than its own voice.

# The State Voices
These are the voices of the various tiers of awareness. I (Ari) will switch to personal recounting to explain this.
When I first started down my path of serious shamanic initiation in late 2022, these voices were some of the first things I encountered as I increased my state of awareness.
Initially, I experienced them as 4 voices, in a vertical line. Later, with deeper awareness, I was able to see 7 distinct voices. Deeper still, I was able to see even finer gradations, a continuous infinite spectrum in fact, but in the same way we must pick an arbitrary yardstick to measure and communicate temperature I chose 7 as the Goldilocks.
I will recant how I experienced them as it may be helpful in one's own meditative practice.
First, and most obvious usually, was **The Voice of the Body**, which reported sensations like pain and temperature, and sensory desires (sexual, aesthetic, etc). Upon deeper study, I was able to see how this voice actually contained two unique voices, an incredibly primal voice focused entirely on the survival of the body (warmth, water, food, etc), and a slightly more subtle but still incredibly primal voice focused on the attainment of reproductive and aesthetic desires (sex, comfort, pleasure, etc).
Second, I became aware of **The Voice of the Heart**, which spoke thoughts I had about myself, about other people I had relationships (good or bad) with, and things I wished to say and express out of me. Unsurprisingly to you the reader but profound for me, upon further study, this voice differentiated into the 3.3D · Willpower, 3.4D · Connection, and 3.5D · Synergy.
Thirdly, I became aware of a very detached voice that seemed to be looking at things from a primarily rational and analytical lens, **The Voice of the Mind**. It in many ways didn't even seem like "mine" in the same way the lower 2 voices did, in that its concern was not with my emotions or body but rather with the way the world is, how things work, and what is true outside of myself. It could pass information down to the other voices, and often was in feverish conversation with them, but when I was stabilized in The Witness and it separated out, its contents were entirely intellectual. In the 7 voice system, it is called 3.6D · Analysis.
Finally, when deeply in The Witness, there became perceptible a background hum behind everything else. Most of the time, it is simply something like a Presence, in that it contains awareness. It is not just like the whir of a machine or electrical room, which makes noise but does not activate the primal sense that one is being watched. It has the quality of consciousness, awareness, a radiant and open presence. And sometimes — what I would imagine would be considered quite often as I am a Shaman and here to commune with the Higher Ones — deep knowings or "insights" would come down spontaneously from that presence and download instantaneously into my being, like a file off the internet to your computer. These insights are not comprehended as symbols or words, but rather complete networks of association and knowledge, that can take hundreds or thousands of words when pulled out into english. For example, during Burning Man 2023, a cumulative period of maybe 5 minutes of downloads on one night translated to 5,798 words of explanation in my personal notes.
This higher presence and "teacher" I called **The Voice of Spirit** when I first started to hear it regularly. Now I have more complex ways of referring to it, but put simply, it is the voices of one's Higher Selves, like one's personal soul, past lives, transpersonal soul, that can be heard when stabilized in The Witness.

# The Intelligence Voices
Often only the dominant Intelligences within someone's stack really get heard or recognized. Only when someone has developed their less dominant intelligences to high levels will these voices be included in the conversation, and even then it can be more like a readout on a dashboard the dominant intelligences have projected on the wall as opposed to another general at the situation room table.
I have found the Intelligences, at least my dominant ones, to engage in more teamwork and have more goal-congruence than my internal Types. My top 4 Intelligences, i7, i5, i2, and i4 will often process something together very quickly and provide a multi-modal response. In contrast, the same stimulation sometimes sparks different reactions from my different Types, especially across the Mother / Father and Light / Dark divides. This could imply the need for more integration work!

# The Type Voices
Similar to the Intelligence voices, these are the voices of the Archetypes that live within you. Each type has its own modes of relating to the world, its own objectives in a sense. The more of your dominant types exist in a continuous range on the Type Wheel
If they are fixated, they can have a level of development that is lower than where the Self usually hangs out, causing some surprising outbursts, even to oneself.

This concept often is treated with much trepidation in our current Western culture, is a common fixture of most humans cultures in the past.
From Ari's GPT:
1. **Ancient Greek Philosophy:** In Ancient Greek philosophy, the concept of the 'daimon' epitomizes the multiplicity of the psyche. These daimons were considered divine or semi-divine entities, guiding and influencing human behavior and destiny. Plato and Socrates often spoke of their personal daimons as sources of inspiration and moral conscience. This idea extends to a broader understanding that the human soul houses various forces, each with unique desires and wisdom. The Greeks viewed these internal voices as integral to one’s character and fate, reflecting a deep recognition of the psyche’s complexity and its connection to the spiritual realm.
2. **Judeo-Christian Traditions:** In Judeo-Christian traditions, the portrayal of angels and demons represents the internal struggle of the human psyche. This dichotomy symbolizes the constant battle between good and evil within the human soul. These spiritual entities are often personified as external beings whispering guidance or temptation, embodying moral and ethical dilemmas. The 'angel on the shoulder' advises righteousness, while the 'demon' entices towards sin, reflecting the multifaceted nature of human consciousness. This metaphor highlights the inherent conflicts within our minds, where different voices vie for dominance, influencing our decisions and shaping our moral compass.
3. **Carl Jung's Archetypes:** Carl Jung’s theory of archetypes delves into the collective unconscious, presenting a framework for the multiple voices within the human psyche. Jung identified key archetypes such as the Shadow, Anima/Animus, and the Self. Each archetype represents fundamental aspects of the psyche, embodying universal patterns and traits. The Shadow contains repressed or denied aspects of the self, while the Anima/Animus symbolizes the feminine and masculine energies within. The Self is the unification of consciousness and the unconscious. Jung’s archetypes illustrate the internal dynamics of the psyche, where distinct entities with their own personalities and desires coexist and interact, shaping our behavior and experiences.
